FIND AVSO

Privacy Policy

Effective September 3, 2026 · Last revised September 23, 2026

The short version. We run a directory. Veterans search it without giving us anything and without making an account. Representatives are listed because the VA publishes their accreditation — not because we bought a list. We do not sell anyone's information to anyone, at any price. We never share the phone number you give us for text verification.

If that is all you came for, you can stop reading. The rest is the detail behind those sentences.

What we collect, and from whom

If you are searching the directory. Nothing that identifies you. No account, no email, no form. Our servers keep ordinary request logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps — for security and to keep the site running. We do not build a profile of you from them and we do not connect them to the searches you run.

If you join the founders list or ask for a guide. Your email address, and the category you select for yourself if you choose to answer.

If you are an accredited representative in the directory. Your name, accreditation number, accreditation date, representative type, organizational affiliation and POA code, city and state, and the business contact information the VA publishes. We did not collect any of it from you. See the next section.

If you claim your listing. A mobile number for verification, an email address, the accreditation documentation you upload, your payment status by way of Stripe, and whatever you choose to add to your own profile.

The VA data, and why you are listed without being asked

The Department of Veterans Affairs Office of General Counsel publishes the accreditation status of every attorney, claims agent, and VSO representative authorized to assist with VA claims. That list is a public federal record, published so that veterans can check who is authorized to help them. FindAVSO reproduces it and makes it searchable.

Your listing exists because the VA published your accreditation. It is not an endorsement, a rating, or a recommendation, and it does not mean you are a customer of ours.

You can claim your listing and correct the contact information on it. If you believe your entry should not appear, write to us and we will review it.

How we use what we collect

That is the whole list.

What we never do

Text messages

If you claim a listing, we send you a one-time verification code and transactional notices about your own listing — a receipt, a reminder to send your accreditation documentation, a change in your listing's status. That is what the number is for and that is all it is used for.

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them; reply HELP for help. Full terms are in the SMS section of our Terms.

Your mobile number and your consent to receive these messages are never shared with any third party.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive, see, or store card numbers. We keep a Stripe customer identifier, your subscription tier, and its status, so we know what your listing is entitled to show.

Documents you send us

Accreditation documentation you upload is stored privately. It is visible only to FindAVSO personnel reviewing your claim, is never published on your listing or anywhere else, and is not shared with other members, sponsors, or third parties. We keep it only as long as needed to verify and maintain your listing.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in while you claim or edit your listing, and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Security

We protect information with access controls, encryption in transit, and private storage for uploaded documents. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you.

Your choices

Children

FindAVSO is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We will post revisions here with a new revision date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, members will be told thirty days before it takes effect.
